So today's post, because I actually have a few minutes of free-time today. Amongst all the girlie things, that I had to get done today. I want to discuss as my topic of choice; which is worse porn or slasher flicks? OK so what was the worst slasher flick of all time? In my personal opinion, it's got to be the Texas Chain Saw Massacre. But the first movie and the last pre-sequel of that movie series where the goriest of those films. Now the Chain Saw Massacre, is based on fiction, but was written around a real life slasher named Ed Gein, that was sent to the loony bin for life. Now I saw his picture on T.V., of this Helter Skelter person, and just looking at his eyes, gave me the shivers! You're probably asking me, now why would just the picture of a man, give me the shivers? It's because he was expressionless, which to me means, he was also soulless. I've heard, that some serial killers, kill like they do, because, they are so completely unfeeling and soulless, that the only way that these monsters can feel anything, is by inflicting pain on their innocent victims. They also get a lot of power from their monstrous acts too! All of which proves, that they don't posses something that most of humanity does, which is a heart or more correctly a soul. So the picture of this heartless soulless creature, that I refuse to call a man, who resembled more of a demon to me, sat there at his trial expressionless. His house gave me the shivers too, it was fly ridden, stuffed with garbage and rotting corpses. They found 6 women's uterus's and I believe 2 men's penises, don't quote me on that. Anyway the Alfred Hitchcock Character Norman Bates, was based on him, and so was one of the Texas Chain Saw Characters.
Now Porn has always been porn, that industry has made millions off the shock factor. But the main difference between Slasher movies and Porn, is, the people who make porn, who star in it. Are willing to hurt themselves threw the porn industries abuse of people. Where the victims and perpetrators of Slasher films, will go on to live and have normal lives. My biggest question, is, which industry is worse for the consumers, of that particular form of film? (1) Do these industry's have an effect on us and our children? Certainly it does. The Bible teaches that "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he" (Prov. 23:7). What we view and what we think about affects our actions. So will the mentally weak and the psycho-paths in the U.S., take head to the violence in both porn and slasher movies to use them as a 1 threw step guide to kill? Are these types of films the only guide that's needed, to give them the fuel to kill?
(1)In Slasher films and in Hollywood the body count is staggering: 32 people are killed in "Robo Cop," while 81 are killed in the sequel; 264 are killed in "Die Hard 2," and the film "Silence of the Lambs" deals with a psychopath who murders women and skins them. Who would have imagined just a few years ago that the top grossing films would be replete with blood, gore, and violence? No wonder some film critics now say that the most violent place on earth is the Hollywood set. Was it really surprising, that Hollywood, would use blood and gore, making those victims deaths into a multi billion dollar business?
So back in the black and white era of the Hollywood movie. Which was the biggest goriest genre, that they had going on back then? It was the Western! In Westerns, the BIG White man, killed Indians, sometimes Mexicans and bad guys. Although I believe, that was more of a History lesson, then anything else. Today in our society, we have glorified the sociopath, and the psychopath, threw slasher films! Is it really that hard to believe, that film replicates in real life? Is it really hard to believe that because of all this violence, that there are men and women, whom are willing to blow themselves up for a cause these days? All of which, has been glorified in films, and on our daily and nightly news Chanel's, all of which has been happening for years.
Here's what A woman commented on a site called http://mediacriminaljustice.blogspot.com/2011/04/can-we-predict-how-many-killings-there.html and if you count the violence in Slasher movies or T.V shows like CSI, the violence is mind numbing.
Pattie wrote: How awesome and yet sad is it that we have this formula? Since we discussed the number of violent instances per episode or per movie, I have been paying more attention to what I have watched, and when you are aware of it, the amount of violence is staggering. I have watched episodes of CSI:Miami as well as a few movies(Kiss The Girls and Step Up). While one of the movies is known as a murder mystery and violence is expected, the other is a chick flick. But it still had numerous instances of violence and other deviant behavior. I do not usually watch horror movies so I doubt that I will ever use the formula from this article, but it is definitely believable.
Now here was the most News grabbing, porn tragedy's, caused by porn, that have been written about in print and duplicated on film;
(2) While the porn business dedicates itself to churning out explicit movies that capture the unspoken fantasies of its viewers, it’s also a hardcore racket that’s not without it’s shocking, headline-grabbing stories featuring homicides, suicides, and mysterious deaths. From porn star John Holmes’ involvement in the so-called Wonderland murders to porn starlet Savannah’s suicide at 23, these are the adult movie industry’s most shocking stories.
So I guess, it really isn't an addiction to porn, that makes the killer kill. I believe, that real life slashers, are (3)"addicted to killing and death." It's the thrill of the kill, so I believe, that Hollywood and not the porn industry, has helped more then any industry, to incite the interests, of up and coming psycho-paths and violent groups. In 2011 people are still making money off glorifying the gruesome deaths of innocent victims on film. Victims, some whom where never identified, some who's murders go on un-solved, and whose bodies went unclaimed.
Did the porn industry do as much damage as the Slasher film has? I really don't believe so, unless you consider; the destruction of self, then yes it is just as bad. But no one was forced to make porn, the people who made porn chose to make it. The victims of phycopaths didn't chose to be killed, and that's the main difference in those two different types of entertainment on film. Can society ever be saved from the constant barrage of violence, that is constantly viewed by children as young as 8 years old? Probably not! Not unless society will stop giving killers, a voice, threw their brutally violent Movies and T.V shows.
