Which is worse? Having an abortion or selling your baby to the highest bidder? Now I know how bad things can become for women, because, I am a woman. I have seen many of my friends, go threw all kinds of horrible circumstances.
OK, lets compare and contrast...shall we? Now, I've had two friends, both went threw the wringer with this horrible subject. But since our up-tight republicans and right winged religious freaks, can't keep their noses out of women's reproductive choices. Let me give you the best of the best, or worst of the worst scenarios, and you make the decision about whats right or wrong. What would you do, if you were one of these women? And then you can multiply those problems by a million, and start singing the Depeche Mode song; "walking in my shoes!" Because if you were faced, with the decisions that these poor women, have had to make, you probably wouldn't know what to do. Were these women, whom where my friends, wrong, to have gone and done what they went and did? I will let you be there judge and jury.
Here's my first friend; I will call her Kelly to protect her identity. Now Kelly was out at a party, with one of my friends. From what she told me, it was 2 or 3 AM at the time. And she was drunk. Now she thought she was a bad ass. She was by herself and decided on sleeping off the drunk, in her off road vehicle. This was Hollywood. She wasn't safe sleeping off a drunk out side. Now an unknown black man, slipped inside the truck, and put his hand over her face. He then proceeded to rape her. I guess she would have used a condom, if, she hadn't been raped. Anyway, she found out 4 weeks later, that she was pregnant. Of course, she decided to have an abortion, and being a good friend, I supported her in her decision.
Now here's the story of the second friend. My second friend was bi-polar, and she was a meth head. Now she had a user of a boyfriend, who knew that she had mental problems. She should have used condoms...but didn't! She told me that she was 2 months pregnant by the time she had found out that she was pregnant. She also told me, that she didn't want a baby, but that she couldn't kill it...or terminate the pregnancy. So I guess she thought, it would be a great idea to sell her to a lady who sold babies, on the black market. But she was caught, because, someone snitched on her, to the Feds. My friend was faced with 10 years of prison time. I had to talk to the lawyer, and say that she was mentally ill, and I really didn't believe, that she knew, what she was doing was wrong. Because of my testimony, she received a reduced sentence and counseling.
Look, I'm not judgemental, when it comes to this subject. Every single one of us, will be confronted with relatives, loved ones or friends, over these types of issues. Either we will be personally touched by these types of issues or we will know of someone that has. Similar decisions like the two above, will continue to be made, by women all over America. Having a baby or not having a baby is a woman's choice. It's one of the hardest decisions that any woman, will ever have to make. But that decision will become 10 times harder, if you add; rape, incest and poverty into that equation.
I had one more friend that was born, because, her mother was raped by her step father. She asked me one night; "do you think I'm a bad person, and do you think I ruined my mother's life?" I sat there an answered her honestly; "I think your mother, must have really loved you very much, and that you should consider yourself very lucky to even be here at all." I'm not a judge or a jury, I just know that in life...baby's happen! Having a baby, is not for everybody who is a woman. And not everybody, will wind up, making a great mother. Is it wrong, to end any unborn persons life. I really believe, that God left that decision up to that particular woman, who is pregnant to make. It's up to her to be willing, to have that child...or have and raise that child. Why should a woman who has been raped or molested, have to have her rapists or molester's baby, if she doesn't want to? And which one of us, would be willing to tell her, that she was wrong for not having that baby? I'm going to take one of Jesus Christs sayings and write it here, because...it has a lot of meaning in this post; he said, "those who live in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones!" Personally I really don't know if it is right or wrong, and I won't judge any woman, for the choices that she has to make and live with. Especially when it comes to not having, or not wanting to raise her children.
