Written by Linda Mains about a story from the L.A Weekly
OK, I have anger issues sometimes, I'm normal, there are things that just naturally piss me off. They are probably the same things that piss you off. Rude people piss me off, especially those types of special rude asses that hide behind a user name and just cut you down, because, it's the only way, and excuse my french here; that these types of pussy’s can get to anyone. Why? Because these yellow bellied slugs could never, ever, tell you any of their special brand of insults to your face. But if you did find yourself really mad and had just listened to one of my favorite heavy metal songs where the singer is singing the words from this song; “die mother f*cker die, die mother f*cker die!” One of my personal favorites, now if you then went and acted on that song, and kicked the holly living shit out of one of those yellow bellied slugs. After-which you might find yourself in the L.A county jail for men or women and yes it is a Zoo.
I'm leading into my next story. It was last night, when I went to work out, after, I got my free issue of the L.A Weekly. I usually never read the story’s in that free publication. But this story looked like it kicked some serious ass! No pun intended. OK, here's the title; SENSELESS VIOLENCE Prisoners Report Vicious Beatings at the Hands of County Jailers.” Listen, when I first started reading this story, my jaw drooped. It looks as if L.A County Sharif deputies, whom are guards, have a reported history from the ACLU of violence against inmates. But here’s a new one for these brutes, the man that they gave their latest beat down too, was a visitor. He was a visitor who simply wanted to see his brother. Now you are probably asking, what man did they beat? Well his name is Gabriel Carrillo, he's 23 years old, and stands at only 5”6. Your probably also asking; so what could this man have done to get his ass savagely beaten by prison guards? Well apparently at the Men's Central Jail in L.A, they have a rule that you aren't allowed to bring any cell phones into their facility. Who knew?
Listen to what Gabriel had to say about his ordeal, at the Mens Central jail in L.A.. And the only real reason he had gone to the Jail in the first place, was just to visit his brother:
Here's Gabriel's story from the L.A Weekly; Through purple eyes that where nearly swollen shut, Carrillo could see blood pouring out of his head onto the floor.“I'm not fucking resisting,” he cried out.Suddenly, Carrillo felt a blast of chemical spray. He was blinded and gasping for air as more punches pummeled his increasingly numb legs and torso. It was like being caught in a violent ocean wave, Carrillo recalls. Every-time he tried to come up for air, another blow drove him back under.“I can't breath! I can't breath!” Carrillo wheezed.“Shut the fuck,” Carrillo claims a deputy said. “If you can talk, you can breathe.”Finally, Carrillo lay motionless, watching officers wipe his blood off the floor with clean towels, thinking to himself, “How did this happen? All I was trying to do was visit my brother in jail. This happened to him on February 26th and he was with his girlfriend Grace Torres. The gards found out about the cell phones in the first place because the phone fell out of his girlfriends sock. All of this happened in a break room after the deputies had taken their cell phones and Carrillo was handcuffed. Carrillo did admit that he opened his mouth and said some things to the deputies. He said “if he wasn't handcuff’s, it would be a different situation. Anyway I don't think he deserved that kind of beating, he looked like Swiss Cheese when they were done with him. He had cuts and bruises on his forehead, cheeks and a couple of cuts on his lips.
It looks as though the conditions at L.A county, have sucked in the largest jail in the world, for over 35 years. And it looks as if civil rights organizations, have been trying for just as long, to work with the Sheriff's Department in an attempt, to make things better at that run down facility. But this organization is saying that just in the last couple of years. Things have gotten a lot worse and not better there. They stated in the L.A weekly that the Men's Central Jail in L.A., “is the worst facility in the country.” The Jail has a reputation as the most violent, the most dangerous, and it's a cancer right in the heart of L.A. And it also looks like 90% of the inmates, haven't even been convicted of a crime, and are awaiting their disposition. Which means that they haven't been found guilty of any crimes, when many wound up, being abused at jailers hands.
Here's the really disturbing thing about this story, which is that the deputies are saying, that a lot of the abuse was justified. So their telling all of us, that it was justified, to have 5 deputies beat one inmate while in handcuffs? Simply because he wanted a new pair of tennis-shoes. That seems justified doesn't it? So they knocked him to the ground, and beat him senseless. That beating gave that inmate a free trip to the hospital. After which, he was threatened with retaliation, from guards if he said anything about the abuse that happened. One inmate reportedly complained to the ACLU, that he was thrown in the hole after his beat down by deputies.
Over the past two years, there has been bone chilling story’s, about the abuse that the inmates have received at the Mens Central County jail. WOW! I didn't know, did you? The ACLU gets 4,500 inmate complaints every year, about the abuse, that they have suffered threw, at the hands of out of control prison guards. How do these brutes, get away with beating people, whom are in handcuffs? Well it looks as if L.A county judges, have soft spots in their hearts for these Sheriff Deputies and believe them, while always taking their words as the Gospel truth. Over the words of any prisoner they assume must have done something simply because they are prisoners..
Here's Eric Whites story from the L.A Weekly; this happened to him on May 13, 2009, a deputy told him that the other officers needed to speak to him and the the deputy told him; “put your nose to the wall.” All White kept telling the officer was; “I don't want any problems.” The deputy said; “it's to late for that now.”The first blow knocked White to the ground.“When I went down, I received a crushing blow to the top of my head...All I can remember is trying to craw away. Then a door flew open and a bunch more deputies came in. I thought they were going to make the others stop, but they all joined in. As I began to lose consciousness, I looked down and saw a pool of blood.”White says the officers tore off his pants and Tasered him. The next thing he remembered was being interview on videotape by officers at the hospital.“I can't think of a single thing that I could have done to deserve this beating,” White says, “I admit I've been disrespectful at times, but nothing that deserves me nearly losing my life.”White says he had four fractured vertebrae, a shattered right shoulder, a broken rib and two sprained ankles. He also required five staples on the top of his head, five stitches on his forehead and seven stitches above his eye.The months sense coming back from the hospital have been nothing but terror.” he says.
Considering that 90% of the inmates being held in the Men's county jail. Haven't been convicted of any crimes. Whom are also being beaten along with inmates that have been convicted. Add those beatings to the beatings that are now happening to visitors as well. I believe that shuttering this monstrosity of a prison, is long over due. How many more people, need to suffer needlessly, at the hands of an SS type prison guard, who beats people, whom are in handcuffs for absolutely no real reason. It's the Guards words, against the prisoners words. So who do you think a judge will believe? Remember some of the biggest criminals in the world, have hidden behind an officers uniform.
